Mechanical Engineering
The Mechanical Engineering Group is headed by Philippe Marion.
It contains three units structured around the Engineering Unit which provides advice, support, and development and production capabilities in mechanical engineering for the Experiments Division, the various ISDD groups, and the Accelerator and Source Division.
The Engineering Unit also acts as the coordinator of interventions on beamlines or accelerator systems.
The Precision Adjustment and Measurements Unit is composed of the Assembly, Maintenance and Machining lab, Precision Engineering Lab (PEL), Integration Lab and Vibration Lab. It operates several workshops, dedicated to machining, assembly, maintenance and precision metrology. They perform urgent repairs on instrumentation and rapid machining of components for high precision instrumentation, either in-house or through subcontracting.
The Drafting Office Unit is composed of the Drafting & Archives & CAD Management team and of the ASD team. It mainly provides design support to the Engineering Unit and to the engineers in ASD and TSD. The teams in the Support Engineering and Drafting Office work not only for the beamlines and other ISDD Groups but also for the ASD. As a result, this unit liaises with other groups to offer coordinated action and be allocated to different projects.
