How to setup SSH
 

Setting up a secure shell client

Please click on the icon Shell

You will have the following image:

SSH Start

At this stage we will set up a Profile for use outside ESRF/ILL/EMBL.

You can of course use "quick connect" to connect to any internal machine if you are inside the firewall and you do not need to read further.

First select Profiles followed by Add Profile... select for example ESRF as profile name and click add to profiles. Then select Profiles followed by Edit Profile...

Fill in Hostname, Username and Port number.

Note the unusual port number: 5022 to get in to the ESRF, 5023 for the ILL and 5024 for the EMBL.

Then select the Tunneling tab and make sure you tick Tunnel X11 connections

Acknowledge that all is Ok by clicking OK. Now you have a new entry in Profiles (ESRF) that you can now click on to get in thru the firewall.
