Main figures
-
10000 plugs supporting 10BaseT, 100BaseT and 1000BaseT
-
4800 Km of fiber optic, multimode and mostly singlemode
-
6000 fiber optic SC/APC connectors
-
10000 fiber optic STII connectors
-
1300 fiber optic compact MT-RJ connectors
The Ethernet network spreads all around the site as a set of IP backbones based on fiber optic cables.
Each cable contains sets of 24 fiber optics and links two technical rooms where the network switches are located.
-
13 IP backbones support the networks dedicated to the Machine control (accelerators)
-
28 major IP backbones support the general networks.
- 170 secondary networks
-
Each beamline has its own subnetwork (switched 10/100/1000BaseT) protected by an IP router.
The total number of 217 IP backbones either use 1000BaseLX or 10GBaseLR on singlemode fiber optic.
Office distribution typically uses 10BaseT, 100BaseT and 1000BaseT over the same Category 5/5e/6 copper cabling. Category 6A is now introduced in the Data Centers.
