The Management Information System Group develops, maintains and operates software managing a large scope of general purpose data.

The applications enable:

• On-site users to process orders, manage budgets, assets and stocks
• The world-wide ESRF user community to process scientific proposals, reports, A forms, and safety aspects related to experiments, statistics and soon experiment scheduling (already accessible through the new SMIS Web Client for selected beamlines, see also the demos: view schedule and edit schedule).

ESRF UP projects (studies)

Partly financed by the European Community in the frame of the Seventh Research Framework Programme (FP7), in preparation of the ESRF upgrade, several studies have been set up. These studies are called Work Packages (WP). The following two concern MIS activities.

• ESRF UP Work package 7 (WP7): User single entry point to ESRF and ILL 
  

• ESRF UP Work package 9 (WP9): Feasibility study for a new Scientific Management Information System (SMIS)
