Back up support
If expertise is required for a particular problem the appropriate person on call or standby is called
Standby: people on standby can be called at any time of the night or day to come in to resolve a problem preventing the machine from running. This may include coming to the ESRF.
Callable: those who accept to be callable may be called at any time to help resolve a problem. However, they are not held to come to the ESRF to fix a problem.
In an emergency ...
The shift crew are contacted in all emergency situations. All alarms are centralised in the CTRM (fire, injury, leak, lift breakdown). All operators are trained in First Aid and are briefed on how to react in emergencies.
