The Diagnostics group is responsible for the study, conception, design, development, procurement, installation, commissioning and maintenance of the instruments for measuring the various particle beam and light beam parameters with ultimate precision and resolution.
A number of feedback systems to stabilize the beam, and interlock systems to protect the machine are also under the group’s responsibility.
The official description of what the group does can be found here.
